Twenty-nine canoes launched from Hidden Falls Regional Park in St. Paul on Saturday as part of the Great River Race on the Mississippi. The event, sponsored by Wilderness Inquiry, raised over $100,000 for its Canoemobile Minnesota outdoor education program. At left, paddlers in the canoe sponsored by Polaris got off to a strong start. The first-place boat, sponsored by VAA Engineering, finished in just over an hour.
